Typically a homeowner employed outside of the home will contact several different roofers, get estimates while at work and compare estimates at a later time when whey return home at the end of the work day.

The better method is to actually interview the roofers in person and ask any questions that you might have about their background, experience and references.

Though it may seem like you will save time by having several estimates performed while you are not at home, you may end up regretting that move later.

If you choose a roofing contractor solely based upon the estimate and not a personal meeting with the roofing contractor, you may discover that have run into problems during or after the job.  The price of replacing a roof is never based on a single factor.  If you choose the lowest price, you will always get your money's worth.

To give a proper and accurate estimate, the roofer should look at the roof as well as your attic. Obviously, you must be home for this to happen. While in your home, the roofing contractor might need additional information regarding your home. With all this in mind, it’s always best for both you and the roofer to be there during the estimate.

Remember, price is second most important in choosing a roofing company.  The service provided is always first.  If you feel more comfortable with a roofer, but their price is higher, you probably found your best option.
